Generative AI in the CTE Classroom: Practical Steps to Student Success
Abstract:
Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) holds immense potential for enhancing educational experiences in Career and Technical Education (CTE) classrooms. This “hands on” session aims to equip educators with actionable strategies to effectively integrate generative AI into their teaching practices. Attendees will collaborate to explore instructional strategies, assessment, and grading practices that are most conducive to student success with generative AI.
Session Structure:
1. Prompt Engineering Framework: Attendees will engage with a research-informed prompt engineering framework. By crafting rich, detailed prompts, participants will learn how to obtain high-quality content from AI models.
2. Instructional Approaches and Assessment Strategies: Attendees will collaboratively discuss current instructional approaches and assessment strategies and critique potential strategies that are most conducive to student success in using generative A.I.
3. Tailored Strategies Toolkit: Attendees will leave with an individualized toolkit. This toolkit, customized to address their unique challenges, will guide future practice in integrating generative AI effectively.
Key Takeaways:
